It is not about habit or good intentions. It is about skin: in September the tan fades, and a whole family of treatments becomes possible again.
September is the right moment for a precise reason: the skin stops being tanned. Every treatment that uses light — laser hair removal, intense pulsed light, photorejuvenation, peels — becomes workable again as the tan fades. Summer was not delaying them out of excessive caution: it made them genuinely risky.
Why summer closes the door
These technologies target pigment. On recently exposed skin, pigment is everywhere rather than only where you are aiming: the energy scatters, effectiveness drops and the risk of pigment marks rises. This is not a comfort precaution — it is why a serious clinic will decline the session rather than perform half of it.
Conversely, skin back at its usual tone lets the device be set precisely. The same session becomes both more effective and safer — for the same price and the same time spent.
What the summer left behind
Summer does not merely block treatments: it creates the need for them. Pigment marks that appeared or darkened in the sun will not clear on their own. The dehydration accumulated from salt, chlorine and air conditioning shows in the skin's texture. And the complexion loses its evenness wherever exposure was uneven.
That is exactly what photorejuvenation treats: pigment marks and diffuse redness, which no moisturiser and no good routine will make disappear.
Permanent hair removal is a question of calendar
This is the point people usually grasp a year too late. A course of hair removal usually takes six to eight sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart, because at each pass only a fraction of the hairs are in the active growth phase. End to end, that occupies a good part of the year.
Starting in September or October means reaching next summer with most of the course behind you. Starting in May means being interrupted by the sun after two sessions, and starting again from far back the following autumn.
The treatments that have no season
Not everything depends on light. These can be done all year round, summer included:
- HIFU and radiofrequency — they heat tissue at depth; pigment is not involved.
- Cryolipolysis, EM-Sculpt, lipocavitation — body contouring is untroubled by a tan.
- Pressotherapy and drainage — useful precisely when it is hot.
- HydraFacial — cleansing and hydration, with no seasonal dependency.
Where to start
- A skin diagnosis, to establish what the summer actually left — and to tell a recent sun spot from older pigmentation.
- Pigment marks first, while the skin is back to its baseline tone: it is the narrowest window of the year.
- Begin the hair-removal course now, so it is well advanced before the first exposure.
- Set up the background maintenance — skin quality, body contouring — which can run all year.
- And daily sun protection, without which everything above comes undone.
In Rabat and in Casablanca, the first consultation at Bloom Clinic is free, skin diagnosis included. This is the time of year when it is most useful: it says what has to be done now, while the window is open, and what can wait without losing anything.
